Senior Citizens and Disabled Person Program
West Central Illinois TRIAD offers a program for senior citizens over 60 and disabled persons requiring special needs called ELDERWATCH. Participants complete a form giving some basic emergency medical and contact information, which is returned to either the Quincy Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Department or to Detective Zach Bemis at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center. The form is then forwarded to and entered into a file at the 9-1-1 Center.
Since all Quincy Police Department, Fire Department, Adams County Sheriff's Department and Ambulance responses are dispatched through the Adams County 9-1-1 Center, the information provided by the participants and entered into the file can be made available to emergency personnel when needed.
When a name is entered into the computer in response to an emergency call, and that person is registered as an ELDERWATCH participant, emergency responders will have medical and contact information available that may help save that person’s life.
