Special Investigations Unit
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was formed in May of 2024 as a proactive policing and investigative unit designed to address on-going areas of concern and to improve the quality of life for all citizens in our community. It is comprised of experienced, proactive officers who focus on high level offenders who are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime in the City of Quincy. The unit accomplishes its mission by:
- Identifying and arresting subjects who are involved in violent criminal acts.
- Locating and apprehending subjects who are dangerous and violent fugitives of justice.
- Conduct street level drug investigations and enforcement.
- Covert surveillance assignments of suspects who are involved in serial criminal activity.
- Conduct investigations and arrest suspects who may travel to Quincy from other areas to commit crimes.
- Address quality of life issues.
SIU Officers are highly trained and experienced in tactical operations, surveillance tactics, and fugitive apprehension. The unit regularly partners with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to further the mission of investigating crime and locating and apprehending offenders. SIU officers understand the important role our citizens play in addressing crime in our city and are always working to build community relationships. The public is encouraged to reach out to the unit to ask questions, discuss issues or talk about criminal activity in their neighborhoods.
